Overview

Meeting the Demand with Copper
There are more than three billion copper telephone lines embedded throughout the world. Actelis’ products energize this existing copper infrastructure to enable high bandwidth services with minimal operational costs. Actelis Networks Carrier Ethernet over Copper™ solutions allow service providers to simply and cost-effectively meet the demand for broadband by utilizing the existing copper infrastructure. With the ability to provide up to 100 Mbps of high-quality Ethernet, TDM or ATM services to businesses or locations only served by copper, Actelis is enabling telecommunications service providers to expand their broadband service offerings and deliver new revenue-generating broadband services through their existing copper facilities.

First Mile Access Solutions
For many service providers, business customers are the number one source of revenue. However, in this competitive landscape, to retain customers and gain new ones, service providers need to cost-effectively meet their customer’s demands for higher connectivity and media-rich applications. As more and more businesses migrate their applications to IP, they are demanding a converged network connection that can provide the necessary bandwidth to support all their voice, video and data needs. Traditionally, service providers met this bandwidth demand by either trenching fiber to the customer or offering multiple T1 services using the embedded copper infrastructure. Trenching fiber, however, is not always economically feasible, and customers are not always satisfied with the costs or bandwidth limitations of multiple T1s and E1s.

Bandwidth Backhaul Solutions
Suburban and rural communities are no longer satisfied with basic DSL speeds; they are demanding enhanced broadband services and increased connectivity. Mobile communications continue to grow at staggering rates and expanded coverage is needed. MDU/MTU dwellings need broadband connections to support all the businesses within their buildings. And if that's not enough, WiFi hot spots are popping up at retail outlets, airports, malls and numerous other businesses across the world. This all presents substantial revenue sources for service providers. To offer these services, service providers need the capabilities to backhaul the required bandwidth out to these locations. In most cases, it's not economically feasible to trench fiber everywhere, and wireless solutions cannot provide the reliability needed to support all the applications.

With Actelis' Carrier Ethernet over Copper solutions, service providers can now cost-effectively deliver scalable, high-quality Ethernet services to their customers using the existing copper infrastructure. Actelis Networks ML series of Ethernet Access Devices (EADs) can deliver up to 100 Mbps of Ethernet services over existing copper pairs. Lab and field-proven, they cost-effectively deliver more high-quality bandwidth to more customers than any other high-bandwidth solution over copper. By using the existing copper to deliver high-bandwidth services, service providers can eliminate the costs associated with trenching fiber for broadband services, along with providing highly reliable broadband services that wireless solutions do not offer. And since the ML EADs provide high-quality bandwidth, they are ideal to support a wide range of voice, video and data applications.
