Service Providers: E-Line | E-LAN

E-Line service provides a secure Point-to-Point Ethernet connectivity between two User Network Interfaces (UNIs). The E-line service enables service providers to seamlessly interconnect enterprise customers’ Local Area Networks (LANs) into the Metro area and onto the core for IP transport—either for Public Internet access or Private IP access. The E-Line service can be implemented as Ethernet Private Line (EPL) or Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL).

Ethernet Private Line (EPL) service provides a dedicated Point-to-Point connection utilizing a single Ethernet Virtual Connections (EVC) per UNI. Advanced EPL-based services can be used to effectively replace current dedicated private line services such as TDM private lines.

Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) services allow multiplexing of multiple EVCs on a single physical port (UNI) of the customer premise equipment providing multiple services sharing a common network pipe.

E-LAN provides Multipoint-to-Multipoint connectivity where each EVC links more than two UNIs. The E-LAN services provide a transparent Layer 2 virtual LAN that can seamlessly connect multiple sites.
