Remote Video Monitoring

For surveillance and monitoring applications, many enterprises are installing state-of-the-art, IP-based video cameras capable of capturing detailed high-resolution image. There is growing ability to take pre-emptive action on the basis of video analysis without human intervention, as well as to provide higher quality data that is more easily analyzed. This may require a new network, or the extension of an existing one,  to collect the data and manage the devices effectively. Fortunately, this can usually be configured over existing copper infrastructure, either owned by the enterprise or leased from a local carrier. The locations of video cameras or other IP-based monitoring devices that are increasingly being deployed are usually within reach of copper wiring.

The Actelis ML series of Ethernet Access Devices (EADs) is perfectly suited to hooking up video cameras or other IP devices over the copper infrastructure, typically with a point-to-multipoint system installed at a control and monitoring station fanning out to multiple point-to-point ML systems serving different remote sites. At the remote site the ML system can be attached to a LAN serving a number of IP devices or sensors, such as thermometers and air pollution detectors, as well as any cameras.
