Service Distribution Within the Base

Existing copper infrastructure is ideally suited for distributing services to multiple sites within a military base, being inherently more secure than wireless and more cost-effective, as well as faster to deploy than fiber. The ability to combine multiple pairs brings both redundancy and scalability, while the Actelis MetaASSIST management system provides the sophisticated security and configuration functions demanded by a modern military network. The ability to authenticate users individually with three levels of privilege at the physical network layer gives a sound framework for building higher level policy based security.

Typically, a military network or data center would connect to a local copper-based distribution network through an Actelis MetaLIGHT (ML) Ethernet Access Device (EAD) via a switch. Then at individual sites within the base, the distribution network would break out into circuits from a matching ML EAD and on through a switch or router to LANs serving local applications.
