International Engineering Consortium Honors Actelis Networks With Its Second InfoVision Award in Three Years
BEIJING, June 6, 2007 - Actelis Networks®, the leading global supplier of Carrier Ethernet over Copper™ solutions, today announced at Broadband World Forum Asia that the company has received the prestigious 2007 InfoVision Award for its EFMplus™ Intelligent Access technology. In the category of “Metro Network Technologies and Services,” the award recognizes the capabilities of Actelis’ EFMplus technology as the best of breed among the best innovators of the world. The highly coveted International Engineering Consortium (IEC) award was presented to Craig Easley, vice president of marketing at Actelis, at Broadband World Forum Asia in Beijing, China. A growing number of incumbent carriers in the Asia-Pacific region have already deployed Actelis’ EFMplus intelligent copper access solutions.
“The IEC’s InfoVision Awards program gives tribute to the paramount broadband innovations in deployment today in the Asia-Pacific region,” commented Tom Costello, vice president of conference development for the IEC. “We are pleased to recognize Actelis Networks as an InfoVision 2007 Award Winner for its EFMplus Intelligent Access technology, which we believe is a significant contribution to the industry.”
Actelis’ EFMplus Intelligent Access technology enables carrier to create an intelligent Ethernet access edge with sophisticated bandwidth control, traffic management and quality of services features, and is certified to be compliant with the Metro Ethernet Forum’s MEF 9 and MEF 14 specifications.
“The growing demand for Ethernet service continues to fuel demand for carrier Ethernet over copper solutions,” said Easley, who was also on hand to deliver a number of presentations to show attendees on topics such as ‘Leveraging the Legacy Network in Delivering Carrier Ethernet Success’ and ‘Delivering on the Broadband Promise: Services, Applications and Directions Forward.’ “Over the past few years, carriers have spent billions of dollars installing fiber-optic cable to extend the reach of Ethernet services, yet the vast majority of small to medium-size businesses still do not have access to fiber, only access to copper facilities. With our award-winning EFMplus technology, 85% of businesses without fiber access can now benefit from the same level of reliability, quality of service, speed and bandwidth as delivered by fiber, making next-generation data services a reality for the vast majority of commercial end users.”
This is the second time in three years that Actelis has won the IEC’s InfoVision Award. In 2005 Actelis’ Carrier Ethernet over Copper platform won the award at the Broadband World Forum Europe, held in Madrid, Spain.
